This is a very interesting story narrated by the responsibilities and decisions of two people. The first, Amadou Diarra is an agent for the Service des Eaux et Forets (Forest Service). His job as an agent was to manage the nation’s forests and enforcing the forest protection laws. While enforcing these laws he could either make a tribe/person pay the fine or take a bribe. The next key person is the chief of Sogolonbougou, Djokolo Coulibaly. He also was in a very tough situation. He had to someway figure out how to manage the land available to the village to produce enough crop to keep the villagers fed. In doing so he sometimes had to break some forest service regulations to reach the villages harvest goals, which in return could greatly†¦show more content†¦Since the average income for a Malian was $260, paying the fine would greatly hurt the tribe, sending the chief to jail is out of the question, and in this situation the authorities won’t take a bribe. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;This is a very bad situation from the start. Almost every aspect of this situation is bad. The people are poor, the land is of poor quality, and production of foods and materials is getting tougher and tougher. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;What are the people of Sogolonbougou to do? They are simply trying to raise enough crop to keep from starving and the Forest Service keeps bothering them? Whats the Forest Service to do? They are simply trying to keep environmentally healthy by setting a few laws and regulating them? These are the questions that need to be answered to solve the conflict between the Forest Service and Sogolonbougou. In my opinion, I realize that it must be tough on the chief of Sogolonbougou to have to try to keep a village up and running. But as a chief he needs to find other ways to do things. Instead of trying to clear more land maybe he needs to use the land he has more efficiently. For the forest service they do have to enforce the laws they set. But I feel the leaders of both groups need to put their heads together and find a better solution. It seems rather stupid for both

Gothic Romanticism in The Fall of the House of Usher and Ligeia The Gothic style found in the majority of Edgar Allen Poe’s short stories is obvious to the average reader. The grotesque, the desolate, the horrible, the mysterious, the ghostly, and, ultimately, the intense fear are all the primary aspects of the stories which are emphasized. But few writers remain uninfluenced from their contemporaries and Poe is no exception. He is clearly a product of his time, which in terms of literature, is called the Romantic era. Poe combines these two threads in almost all of his stories. For this reason critics often call Poe’s style â€Å"Gothic Romanticism.† The two stories â€Å"The Fall of the House of Usher† and â€Å"Ligeia†Ã¢â‚¬ ¦show more content†¦The narrator describes the Usher house as being in â€Å"singularly dreary tract of country† (Poe, â€Å"Usher†). Also, the narrator only reveals that he was â€Å"in a distant part of the country† when the letter reached him (Poe,  "Usher†). Not only is the location of the story not given in great detail, the year in which the story took place is not even mentioned. In addition to this, the narrator reveals that â€Å"many years had elapsed since our last meeting† thus removing any accurate conjectures towards the age of Roderick or the narrator. Similarly in â€Å"Ligeia,† the setting remains vague. In the first sentence of the story the narrator claims that he cannot remember â€Å"how, when, or even precisely where, I first became acquainted with the lady Ligeia.† He only â€Å"believes† that he met her in a â€Å"city near the Rhine† (Poe, â€Å"Ligeia†). Furthermore, when the narrator explains that he moved after Ligeia’s death. He reveals that he purchased an abbey that he purposefully does not name (â€Å"I shall not name it†), and only reveals that his unnamed abbey was â€Å"in one of the wildest and least frequented portions of fair England† (Poe, â€Å"Ligeia†). These vague descriptions are important in their contribution to the Gothic effect because they allowed Poe to distance the reader from his/her common everyday world. The reader could be then thrust into the supernatural with much more ease, than if the supernatural events of his story took place in common

Garcia Many authors succeed in trying to illustrate their writing and reveal information in the way they write but they don’t say it directly. Some authors succeed by using literary devices and good diction. Shakespeare confirms Juliet’s anxiousness and immaturity by using poetic language such as hyperboles, similes, and allusions. Through use of skilled writing, Shakespeare demonstrates Juliet’s anxiety to know Romeo’s Response shows that she is too impatient to wait. The clock struck nine when I did send the nurse â€Å"(II. 5. 1). This shows that Juliet has to be looking at the clock frantically or else she wouldn’t know how long it has been. She mentions time often most probably when she looks at the clock because she is anxious. She uses a hyperbole when talking about the time and how long it is taking for the nurse. She over exaggerates when she says â€Å"three hours long, yet she is not come† (II. Shakespeare’s use of similes expresses Juliet’s unloving thoughts about the Nurse show that Juliet is not capable of being in a relationship and that she is immaturity. In line 3 she states â€Å"Perchance she cannot meet him: that’s not so† (II. 5. 3) and she expresses her liability in the Nurse. She asks herself if the Nurse wasn’t able to perform the task she has asked of her but quickly dismisses the thought of the Nurse letting her down because she has been so trustworthy. She expects the Nurse to pull through because they are so close but in the next paragraph she calls the Nurse â€Å"lame†(II. . 4) and starts insulting her in later paragraphs. She uses a simile calling her â€Å"unwieldy, slow, heavy and pale as lead† (II. 5. 17) and then calls her old. Her incapability to look past herself and not care about others shows that she is not ready for anything serious since she acts like a child. Juliet is obviously still a child i f she makes such a quick decision about something so important that affects you for the rest of your life. She also doesn’t know how to respect her elders which is something you have to learn as a kid which shows se is one.
